Hi, I am glad that you are interested about it! In fact, I am using Active Appearance Model (AAM) technology for face alignment. My implementation is very scratchy and incomplete; so I am sorry to tell you that I cannot release the source code right now. But I think there is a very good version of AAM for you to learn. Please check out the code here at:
http://www2.imm.dtu.dk/~aam/

And I think there is a very good paper describing AAM for you to refer:
<a href="//www.ri.cmu.edu/pubs/pub_4376.html”" rel="nofollow">Active Appearance Models Revisited</a>

Let’s keep in touch if you want a further study of the technology.
